Lock without the device
Your device is in another room and you want to lock now? Hold the button for 5 seconds and your apps lock without it.

Press and hold the button
On the Lock tab, press and hold Tap or hold to lock.

Keep holding for 5 seconds
You'll see Lock without your device? Keep your finger on it. Let go early to cancel.

Only the device unlocks.
Release to cancel.

Your apps lock
Only your device unlocks them, so lock this way only when you can get to it later.

Fix · Holding does nothing
Check Hold to lock is on
Settings → Hold to lock. Then keep your finger on the button all 5 seconds, without sliding off.

Switch it off in Settings
Settings → Hold to lock, switch off Hold 5 s to lock. The button then says Tap your device to lock.
